Starting point: Aerial cable-car Gspon.
Destination: Saas Grund.
Take the bus from Saas Fee down to Stalden, and from there, go by aerial cable-car to Gspon; return by bus from Saas Grund to Saas Fee.

Description
Stalden marks the fork between the Saas and the Matter Valley. It is from here that the aerial cable-car goes up to Gspon. Looking down, one can see all the way to Visp to the North and all the way to the Monte Moro Pass to the South. The high alpine trail ascends slightly and then reaches its highest point at Mattwaldalpa. A little further along is Heimischgartu, home to a charming St. Joseph's chapel of Walser origin. From here one can easily see Saas Balen. Pass the chapel and hike towards Saas Grund. In the last part of this hike there are fantastic views of Saas Fee and its surrounding mountains.
