On the site of the former Steinfels area in the urban western part of Zürich, the Zürich architectural firm of Andreas Herczog und Ernst Hubeli realized the West-Side housing estate. The estate consists of three types of buildings, a nave, six point blocks, which are located within the interior of the superstructure, and a basilica with three naves. As the symbol of West-Side, the basilica signalizes an unusual open-handedness for Zürich: the 160 meter long cloud support, a horizontal high-rise building from steel and glass straddles the entire estate at a dizzy height.
