Description

The mountain trail to the end of the valley winds its way up through the shadowy mountain forest. It is well worth taking a break at one of the nearby mountain waterfalls en route. Once at the Alp Grimmi, an impressive mountain plateau opens out before you. This simple mountain restaurant is the ideal place for a break. From here, the mountain trail leading to ‘Uelis Grimmi’ passes through the Grimmialp’s own area of mystical power at 1840 m above sea level with its wild Alpine nature. The small mountain lakes, rare Alpine flowers and iron-rich springs act like a source of natural energy. The red water from the iron-rich springs was channelled to the Grand Hotel Grimmialp at the end of the 19th century and had healing properties. From here, the route continues on across the green meadows of the Stierenberg and Nidegg peaks back down to the start. From Stierenberg¸ the 3-seater chair lift can be used for a comfortable journey back down into the valley (take note of operating times).
