Away from the bustling traffic arteries, the Necker splashes in its original riverbed through the valley. People who live here (approx. 6,800 inhabitants) enjoy the familiar rhythm and appreciate the originality. Much remains here as it was in bygone times.

Among the expanse of countless hill tracts, visitors will find peace and quiet in idyllic inns, and they can listen to the fascinating tales of true “originals” in the rustic pubs, or discover impressive ancient rock formations at the Ofenloch. The rich embroidery and weaving history of the last century is reflected in the villages’ magnificent buildings featuring paintings and ornate decorations. Some are beautifully restored, others are nearly decayed. Visitors will discover countless details. The farm houses impress with their imposing facades which are dotted with numerous little lattice windows.

But visitors will only experience the real Necker Valley if they quench their thirst in a cozy pub (Stubete), kiss a sweet Mandelfischli (delicate pastry filled with almonds or hazelnuts), or yodel unabashedly at an evening sing-along. All active visitors won’t want to miss the wonderful hiking trails, bicycle and cross-country routes.
