The best place to start this attractive hike is in the small village of Noiraigues. The upper entrance to the Gorges de l'Areuse is only a few hundred meters (yards) from here.
The route follows the railway line and the valley soon narrows dramatically. This awesome gorge experience, with the idyllic old stone bridge, is near the "Saut de Brot". As the trail passes Champ du Moulin, the gorge becomes a narrow valley.
The path then passes through another part of the gorge. Gigantic rocks tower above walkers; the route crosses small bridges and leads through pedestrian tunnels. The spectacle ends abruptly as one of the power stations is reached, and then a last bridge and a short climb bring hikers to Boudry SBB railway station.
The careful planning of a tour will ensure that you also derive the maximum pleasure and enjoyment from it. Please take the time to contact the local information centre and enquire about route and weather conditions before setting off. Your intended trail may be fully or partially closed, depending on the time of year and weather conditions.
