When did you last walk barefoot? Relive this wonderful feeling. On the high plateau of Rietbach, above Krummenaus, beautiful high moorlands with soft springy peat ground and a very special flora await your visit! Feel under your bare feet the peat ground that evolved over thousands of years, absorbing the soft rain water. Observe the large number of moorland plants, the cotton grass swinging in the wind, the birch trees with their white trunks, typical of a moorscape, innumerable ancient blades of grass, prickly blue moorland thistles, many varieties of orchis, moorland roses and wild orchids. With a little patience you can even discover entire colonies of sundew, a carnivore only growing in moorlands!
The careful planning of a tour will ensure that you also derive the maximum pleasure and enjoyment from it. Please take the time to contact the local information centre and enquire about route and weather conditions before setting off. Your intended trail may be fully or partially closed, depending on the time of year and weather conditions.
