And then, of course, there is sparkling Lake Zug spread out in front of you, making this hike an unforgettable experience. Descending towards Goldau you can still observe an impressive line of rock fall as you walk through a natural rock garden created by a catastrophic rockslide which buried the village of Goldau in 1806. Children will love a visit to Arth-Goldau's animal park.
The careful planning of a tour will ensure that you also derive the maximum pleasure and enjoyment from it. Please take the time to contact the local information centre and enquire about route and weather conditions before setting off. Your intended trail may be fully or partially closed, depending on the time of year and weather conditions.
Finished this hike today and it really did take about 4 hours (as a reference, I'm in my early 30s and a regular hiker). First half is not covered, so wear sunscreen. Partial shade the rest of the trek. We did not find anywhere along the way to refill water bottles so come prepared. Some of the trail on the second half was not as well marked and involved walking next to cows, mules and goats in pasture.
