Description

This classic highland hike along the upper Simmental valley certainly lacks nothing in length, but between the highest and lowest points of the hike there’s a mere 300-meter-altitude difference, suggesting no significant ups and downs and full scenic enjoyment with little effort! Already the Rinderberg mountain station presents first-class panoramic views – with the horizon shaped by the mighty Wildhorn and imposing Wildstrubel massif, while views looking down extend over the lengths of the Simmen and Saane valleys. Following a short climb to the Gandlouenegrat, the trail then gently descends to the Rüwlis Pass. Over the idyllic Alp Obere Zwitzeregg, the way now leads up and over the Turbachtal up to Heuberg; from where the route runs as a narrow path through natural slopes of hay. Particular attention should be paid here during wet weather, as is the case by the gypsum craters of scenic Gryde, which you cross after the Trüttlisberg Pass. In contrast in terms of width, your destination is finally reached on a broad alpine trail leading to the Betelberg station high above Lenk.
