Mont Pèlerin – From Vevey a Vista Across the Lake

Vevey

The funicular railroad through vineyards, orchards and forests is the most comfortable means of transportation to Mont-Pèlerin. High above Lake Geneva, also called Lac Léman, this mountain is blessed with the most beautiful views. The “Plain Ciel” Lift guarantees even greater viewing pleasures.

Swisscom’s 130-meter TV tower stands atop Mont Pèlerin. A lift takes you to the viewing platform sitting 65 meters above the ground, where you will enjoy the magnificent panorama of Lake Geneva, the Alps, the Mittelland, and when the weather is fine, further on up to the Jura Mountains. The southern slope of Mont Pèlerin has been made accessible from Vevey by funicular, which was inaugurated in 1900. Unusual for a funicular is that besides the valley and mountain station there are three intermediate stops.

The mountain station is 810 meters above sea level at a panoramic vantage point above Chardonne. It is a popular excursion destination with hotels, restaurants and popular venues for meetings and conferences.
