In this garden, Otto Eisenhut, a talented nurseryman, planted and grew thousands of colorful flowers in an area spread over 17,000 square meters: this park comprises about 950 species of camellias and almost 350 of magnolias, not forgetting azaleas, peonies and rhododendrons, surrounded by pines, junipers, ivies and firs which are either exotic or rare in Europe.
Vairano is situated on the hillside above San Nazzaro. To reach the botanical garden, you have to drive from Vira up towards Piazzogna. The park is located beyond the border between Piazzogna and Vairano. There are few parking places on the high terrace at the Gambarogno. We recommend to take public transportation: the Magadino-Gerra bus(line 631.15, via Collina or the Magadino-Indemini bus (line 630.80). Bus stop at the Restaurant Gambarogno, then 2 minutes walk to the park.
