Johanna Spyri (1827–1901) created in her Heidi books a romantic, nature-oriented image of Switzerland that is still widespread today. Translated into 50 languages with many millions of printed copies and visually rendered in documentaries, feature and trick films, the story of little Heidi is a classic of children's literature.
The Heidi Village in Maienfeld virtually transports visitors, who come from all over the world, into the era when the children's story was written. The Heidi Trail leads visitors through the idyllic landscape to the Heidi House and the Heidi Alp. Original objects and mementos from the village store will keep the memories alive.
