Môtiers - Poëta Raisse - Chasseron - Ste-Croix

Couvet

This hike combines the legendary Val de Travers with the sun-drenched plateau of Ste-Croix. But in between, there is a five-hour hike offering one highlight after the next. It begins with the village of Môtiers, then the bizarre gorge of Poëta Raisse, and ends at the spectacular vantage point of Mt. Chasseron.

Description

Begin the tour in Môtiers and simply follow the yellow signs towards Mt Chasseron. Môtiers once sheltered poet-philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau. The area, however, is even better known for the absinthe that is brewed in this region. Once in the Poëta Raisse one understands why this region is considered mystical by some. Once on top of the mountain, the sweeping views will impress hikers. See Lake Neuchatel, then the Alps and to the North, the Jura mountains. Once the summit has been reached, it is all downhill. The yellow-red signs will point the way to the watch-making village of Ste-Croix.
