Over a distance of about 1.5 kilometers you will overcome a gradient of 300 meters. After traversing the gorge, the trail on the right leads in a zigzag course high up to the Duftbrunnen where it branches out. Follow the signpost pointing in the direction of Restaurant Vorder Brandberg.
After a delicious repast at the restaurant and enjoying the wonderful view of the valley extending up to Balsthal, the hiking tour will take you across species-rich Jura pastures. Keeping to the left, you will reach the community pasture Herbetswiler Allmend, and shortly after that the valley basin in Herbetwil. Here you can take the PostBus back to Balsthal or to the starting point, namely the Wolves Gorge bus stop. Overall, this is an excursion that requires a good physical condition, but it rewards the hiker with plenty of experiences and adventure.
