The Bern History Museum, built in 1894 at Helvetiaplatz, is home to one of Switzerland's most important cultural history collections. Over 250,000 exhibits are on view here, among them several archeological finds of international significance.
Besides permanent exhibitions, the museum presents changing exhibitions, among them the Albert Einstein exhibition, which had 350,000 visitors and was thus one of the most successful exhibitions. Thanks to this success, the Einstein Museum was established. It documents the life of the physicist on 1,200 square meters of exhibition space. By the way, Einstein lived in Bern when he created his famous formula, E=mc². Originals, manuscripts and film documentation as well as experiments illustrate his theories.
