Welcome to the Jailhotel Löwengraben – the first Jailhotel in Switzerland ! The historical building was built in 1862. It was used as a prison until autumn 1998. Where prisoners attempted to escape for more than 135 years, today, tourists and residents of Lucerne enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Jailhotel and Alcatraz-Bar. But watch out ! The Hotel Weinhof lies in the centre of the town, near the "Hofkirche", the lion-monument and near a wonderful promenade directly by the lake.

We offer 20 elegantly designed and furnished rooms and one suite with a total of 54 beds. In January 2007 the hotel has been completely renovated and refurbished so that we can say - it¿s a new house. The rooms offer modern features and amenities, such as wooden floor, integrated colour concept, mini bar, complementary coffee/tea set, flat screen TV with DVD, ceiling fan, room safe, radio/buzzer, free W-LAN access, private telephone line and guest combox. We offer non-smoking rooms only. The whole building, is equipped with the lastest generation of fire and smoke detectors. Furthermore, the front desk is on 24 hours duty. We also provide a Italian Restaurant. The menu consists of various pastas, pizza's from the wood-fired oven, delicious meat and fish dishes. The restaurants are open daily and all menus are available through 11 am to 11 pm.

Room categories vary from single to inexpensive 3 -4 bedded family rooms. It is also the first hotel near the Allmend exhibition halls. In the 3-star category the hotel offers accommodation at the lowest rates available in the city of Lucerne. Guests have free Internet access (W-lan). W-Lan or Lap tops can also be connected provided they are equipped with a Lan connector.
