An ancient village on the lakeside Brusino Arsizio is located at the foot of Monte San Giorgio on the road running from Riva San Vitale to Porto Ceresio (I).
Originally its economy was based on fishing; more recently it has seen the development of the tourism industry with the construction of many holiday homes.
The historical old town spreads out along the lake-side, centred around the church, and characterised by the old houses and narrow alleyways which testify to its ancient past. The sculptor, Ambrogio Poma, who decorated the Senate Chambers in Bern, is from Brusino.
