The Marcacci castle, which was the old summer residence of this noble Locarno family, is worth noting. In Brione's parish church, dedicated to St. Mary Assunta, there are the most precious frescoes of the valley, in Giotto style, dating back to 1350 and attributed to Giovanni Baronzio of Giotto's Rimini school. There was once beautiful altar of sculpted wood, which the Basel museum later bought. At the Brione church, adorned with medieval pictures, there is the building where the valley's first school was located, founded in 1644 by a Gada of Brione, who was a high government official. The façade is adorned with a fresco representing the Madonna, St. Charles and St. Francis, with an inscription recording its foundation.
