GPS, short for Global Positioning System, is a satellite-based navigation tool. More and more outdoor sports enthusiasts use a navigation system. You can find GPS routes for climbers, mountains bikers and hikers on the Internet.
The GPS trails in the Saas valley are:
- animal treasure hunt (Saas-Fee)
- the circular tour of the village (Saas-Fee)
- the circular gorge tour (Saas-Fee)
- 2 mountain-bike routes (Saas valley)
- the gourmet trail (Saas-Fee)
Hikers and mountain bikers can download the route they want on the Internet and load it onto their GPS receivers. They are then guided exactly to the metre on their route and also receive information about the surrounding area and places to stop for refreshments.
If you do not have a GPS receiver but would nevertheless like to undertake a GPS hike or an entertaining treasure hunt with the whole family, you can hire receivers at the Saas-Fee tourist office.
