The path leads through the prehistoric Wildkirchl caves - inhabited around 40,000 years ago – and on down to the hermit dwellings and the well-known Berggasthaus Aescher. Heading uphill from Ebenalp you reach Schäfler (challenging) and can continue on to Säntis.

Magnificent views of the Alpstein’s rugged limestone rock, alpine flora (alpine garden by the Ebenalp guesthouse) and authentic Appenzeller festivities in the various mountain guesthouses delight visitors here.
