Son Martegn church – bearing testimony to the Baroque period

The present-day church – the sole example of the influence of Italian baroque architecture north of the Alps – was consecrated in 1677. It is the third sacred building on this site and dominates the village of Savognin with its mighty frontage. Built in the shape of a Greek cross, it has a low dome covered with painted frescoes.
