It contains valuable 12th century mediaeval frescoes with high-quality Byzantine-Romanesque fragments and an informative Lombardian cycle dating from 1495. After an extension was made in 1495, the church was completely repainted, covering up the old frescoes. On the west wall and tower, a Maria Magdalena cycle consisting of 18 frescoes was uncovered between 1962 and 1976. Guided tour of the sepulchral church.

MARY
I saw this church on Classical Arts Showcase on TV here in the US. It was a series of stills taken on a beautiful clear winter day, when the church was covered in snow. There was a Baroque musical composition accompanying this slide show. I wish I had caught the name of the piece, or the composer. The clip is named 'A Baroque Christmas'. Both church and music were enchanting.
