In 2010 the municipal and cantonal art museums got together to become MASI, the Museo d'arte della Svizzera italiana - the museum of art for Italian-speaking Switzerland. At the two locations of the museum, the Palazzo Reali and the new LAC, visitors today gain insight into the past and present-day art and culture of southern, Italian speaking Switzerland.

Since 2010 the cantonal and municipal art houses belong together. In fact, both institutions have long been devoted to the same kind of creative arts in Italian-speaking Switzerland. Today, MASI is open to visitors in two different localities - with a fascinating view of cultural worlds that share the same regional roots.

Both locations bid collections and temporary exhibitions in a worthy backdrop. The Palazzo Reali, for example, is the magnificent Renaissance building with the friendly yellow façade - with works from 1400 to 1850 presented on three floors. In the new LAC am See edifice by the lake, which in itself is a remarkable architectural achievement, arts displayed focus on 1850 until today. In addition, with modern theater, concert hall and a great stage, this is also the venue for contemporary cultural activities.
