The Fort was to safeguard the vital link between North and South and to defend the Pass. The weapons were 12-cm howitzers and 5.3-cm canons. Maxim-machine guns, later on 4.7-cm canons, mortars, etc. The museum houses weapons, equipment and uniforms of that period. Video shows and audio recordings illustrate the everyday lives and work of the troops during World War I.

As part of the St. Gotthard fortifications, this fort and was manned from 1894 to 1947 by a fortified mixed artillery regiment.
