Val Piora: Quiet Mountain Lakes High Above the Leventina

Follow the trail around the reservoir lake, Lago Ritom, where fire lilies and paradise lilies grow. Here, cows and horses graze peacefully together in enclosed pastures. In the upper part of the former glacier valley lies the smaller Lago Cadagno, which invites visitors to a picnic on its shores. Another attraction is the mountain lodge on Lago Cadagno, where you can purchase the delicious Ticino cheese to fortify yourself for the ascent to Lago Tom (2022 meters a.sl.), surrounded by sparse pastures. In contrast, the Alp Piora is surrounded by lush green meadows and mixed forests.

How to get there:
Drive or take public transportation from Lucerne/ Andermatt/Göschenen or Bellinzona to Piotta, from Piotta ascend by funicular to Val Piora.
