The Nature Park Parc naturel régional Jura vaudois extends from the summit of La Dôle to the medieval monastic town of Romainmôtier. To the north, the Joux Valley (Vallée de Joux) is situated at 1000 meters. To the south, the park is spread over the forested slopes of the Jura up to the vineyards of Lake Geneva.

Solitary forests, mystical marshland, jagged limestone rocks and glades as well as pastureland surrounded by stonewalls make the nature park especially attractive for pleasure hikers, mountain bikers and snowshoe hikers. The well-marked network of trails is 523 kilometers long. Alpine cheese dairies and "Buvettes d'Alpage" offering refreshments and local specialties beckon the visitor to tarry awhile. .

A unique location, interesting geology and extraordinary climatic conditions shape the character of the landscape at Lac de Joux, the Jura Mountains’ largest lake.

From the peaks of the Jura to its south-facing foothills, an overwhelmingly beautiful panorama extends across Lake Geneva and up to the highest peaks of the Alps, captivating the visitor again and again.
