However Mühlebach has not degenerated into a museum village; instead, all of the houses continue to be inhabited and used. The sign-posted house trail leads past 22 attractive buildings, each of which is identified with a small plaque. A leaflet detailing the houses circuit is available in the Ernen Welcome Centre.
