The Olive Tree Trail in Gandria

The trail leads through a landscape where new olive trees have been planted amongst the remnants of ancient olive groves.

Access to the trail is either in Castagnola (near the old community center) or in Gandria (near the parking lot above the village, at the main road). The trail is sign-posted with the olive tree logo and at certain intervals there are display panels

At the pier in Gandria, one can admire an old alive tree: with a height of about 10 meteres and a diameter of 45 cm is is one of the most valuable trees of Gandria, and certainly worthy of protection.

How to get there

If you start your tour in Castagnola you will return from Gandria by Porlezza-Lugano bus. The stop is near the Restaurant Gandria. Castagnola as well as Gandria can be reached by means of a Lugano lake cruise ship.
