The Cooperative Zum Goldenen Schäfli was founded on 17 June 1978 and got down to work on the building straight away. The guildhall with its Gothic ceiling and sloping floor feels like the sole survivor of a bygone era. One extra that was installed during the renovation work is the magnificent 18th century tiled stove, complete with stove-side “snuggery”. One cannot help but be affected by the atmosphere of this room. The Schudel family and their dedicated team have been running the Goldene Schäfli as a restaurant since 1 May 1979.
Our highlight
The Schäfli specializes in good old-fashioned cooking. Which is why a fine Cordon Bleu and fillet of beef are firm fixtures on the menu here. But we are also proud of our selection of offal specialties, including liver, sweetbread and tripe. We also serve asparagus and game when these are in season.Information
