The name of Ratafià, a nut liqueur par excellence, can be traced back to the Latin term "rata" - "fiat", to ratify. This drink was served when an important treaty was sealed. The method: nuts are harvested in the night preceding St. John’s Day (June 24th). The nuts are cut in slices and pressed into the distillate. The infusion is ready after spices and sugar have been added and after storing it for forty days in the sun. It has a very characteristic nutty aroma, and is an excellent bitter liqueur with digestive properties.
