Description
Brigels - Sesselbahn Brigels-Crest Falla - Alp Quader - Rubi Sura - Bifertenhütte - Bergsee - Rubi Sut - Brigels
This hiking tour leads you on a mountain trail from the Alp Quader
lookout point to the 250 to 300 million-year-old Verrucano rock
formations towards the Biferten Hut.
To the west, the Piz Tumpiv, consisting of Punteglias granite and
Verrucano, rises to the heavens.
On a mountain trail, the hiking tour proceeds from the Alp Quader
lookout point to the Biferten Hut on ground harboring Verrucano stone
formations that are 250 to 300 million years old. To the west, Piz
Tumpiv, consisting of Punteglias Granite and Verrucano, rises into the
sky. From Rubi Sura, you will have a wonderful view of Val Frisal
Valley, which was formed by the glacier. To the west of Val Frisal,
almost the entire geological history of the earth ranging from 250 to
30 million years ago, when the Surselva was still under water, becomes
evident. In some of these limestone layers you can even find fossils.
Your destination is the mountain lake behind Piz d'Artgas. After
pausing for lunch from your backpack, the hike leads you back to Rubi
Sura, and on a steep trail through the valley formed by glaciers, to
Rubi Sut. On the way to Brigels, you will discover Punteglias Granite
that was uncovered by the trailside. The glaciers have formed the
environs of the village of Brigels. The wall of moraines running
through the village evidences this impressively.
