Description
Start off in Murtèl and hike towards Fuorcla. Once you have reached the highest point begin the descent. The trail is full of hairpin curves carved out by the ancient glacier, also responsible for the curious rock formations to be found in this area. In front of you is the Bernina Range, an impressive view on any day. Once at Alp Surovel, you have reached the tree line. Continue to the Hotel Roseggletscher, a good place to take a break. Here, the trail follows the road for about 500 meters (yards) and then branches off again on your right. Hike through fragrant Swiss pines until you reach the train station of Pontresina.
