Mountain Tour with a View from Garvera

Disentis

The ascent to Mt. Garvera is full of surprises, fairly difficult, and offers plenty of beauty. Once on top, the views reach from the glacier-rich Tödi range in the Northeast all the way to the Lukmanier Pass in the South. Deep in the valley lie the villages of the Surselva and from far away, one can glimpse the young Rhine as it winds its way through the valley.

Description

Start the hike in the village of Curaglia, which is on the pass road of the Lukmanier. From the village, follow the route through the Val Platta towards Soliva. In winter, this area always experiences tremendous avalanches. After the summer alp of Soliva, the route ascends to Alp Soliva and then continues to Mt. Garvera. Descend via a narrow but accessible ridge. Passing the ridge, you will find idyllic Lake Lag da Laus. Pass by lush meadows and then descend into the village of Cavardiras. From here, follow the road across the Rhine and continue to Disentis.
