Young and old alike can learn what rocks sound like, how a tree conveys sounds and how a wall of metal flutes makes music of its own accord – walkers can play unusual instruments and compose their own music here. The stages can be covered individually in a few hours, or consecutively in a day.

Description

The path leads in three stages from Alp Sellamatt in Alt St. Johann to Oberdorf in Wildhaus. It includes 25 sound installations by the wayside that can be tried and played. Attractive text panels on every instrument contain interesting background information.

One can begin the musical trip at one of the three mountain stations of Selamatt, Iltios or Oberdorf. The hiking time for all stages is about 2.5 hours; with sound-experience and rest period one should allow for 5 hours of time. The stage “Sellamatt” can also be used with children’s strollers and wheel chairs.

Near Dunkelboden, there is the option of an extra loop on the Sound Route around the two Schwendi lakes with 4 extra sound stations.
