Description
Schwarzsee Bad - La Balisa - L'Auta Chia - La Valsainte - Charmey
The route starts in Schwarzsee. The lake of the same name is very popular, especially with people from the nearby towns. It is its location in the midst of the mighty mountains that makes the Schwarzsee such a very popular destination at weekends. Across the language border lies the holiday resort of Charmey. On all sides, the unique landscape of the foothills to the Alps makes a hiker's heart beat faster.
The station in Fribourg is an ideal starting point for the walk. From there you take the bus to Schwarzsee. A steep path leads up to the Balisa. Then, with fantastic views of the foothills to Freiburg all the way, you go on via Auta Chia down to La Valsainte. Unfortunately the huge monastery is not open to the public. Then, always with the towering peak of the Moléson in view, the trail winds down to Charmey.
