Nearly at the end of the Engelberg Valley, shortly before one reaches the Surenen Pass, is the Fürenalp. Here bizarre rock formations contribute to the strange beauty of this area. Behind, impressive Titlis and surrounding mountains rise steeply. Deep in the valley one can glean the different points one will be hiking to: Stäfeli, Alpenrösli and Engelberg.

Here is also the turning point of the hike since from here on, it is all downhill. Pass the alpine hut near Stäfeli. Once at the Alpenrösli, you will have reached the valley station of the Fürenalp aerial cable-car. Another hour's worth of hiking will bring you straight to Engelberg.
