Scuol

Starting from the spa resort of Scuol, the route leads past the mighty Tarasp Castle up to picturesque Ardez. An imposing tower watches over the idyllic village. Meadows speckled with colourful flowers alternate with shady pine forests in the valley cut by the river Inn. Vistas of the magnificent Lower Engadine mountainscape come repeatedly into view along the way.

Description

Ardez is one of the few Engadine villages which, after the destruction by the Austrians in 1622, never again fell victimt to fire or other destruction. The 350-year old village with houses decorated with "Sgraffiti" and paintings is a notable sight.
