Description
Fürenalp – Äbnet - Stäuber – Blackenalp – Surenenpass – Langschnee – Eifrutt – Sennenstein – Waldnachter Bergen – Brüsti – Attinghausen
The Surenen Pass is easier to hike from Engelberg to Attinghausen
because of its gentler ascent. With the Fürenalp or Äbnet cableway you
will have reached x an altitude of more than 1, 600 m already. From the
Panorama restaurant Fürenalp you can hike into the valley and will
notice right away that the height drops at the beginning of the hike by
200 meters. After less than three hours you will reach the pass.
There are several options for the descent in the direction of Reusstal:
we recommend that you take the descent that leads across the
"Geissrüggen" or "Grat" (ridge) to Brüsti. Shortly after the pass the
trail turns left. The well-maintained path then traverses an area of
stones and pebbles and subsequently leads you during this very pleasant
panoramic hike - with view of the entire Urner Lake up to Brunnen - to
the Brüsti cableway. It whisks you down into the valley of
Attinghausen, where you can take a bus to Altdorf (alternatively, you
can walk to the Altdorf Train Station).
The description above refers to the stretch Fürenalp - Brüsti.
The careful planning of a tour will ensure that you also derive the maximum pleasure and enjoyment from it. Please take the time to contact the local information centre and enquire about route and weather conditions before setting off. Your intended trail may be fully or partially closed, depending on the time of year and weather conditions.
