Eggberge – Rietlig – Biel – Äbnet – Heidmanegg - Klausenpass The Schächentaler highland path commences at Eggberge, leading past Rietlig, Biel and the Heidmanegg on your way up to the Klausen Pass. To reach the Eggberge starting point of this scenic hike, you have first to cover an approximately 1000-meter climb in altitude, but as luck would have it, a cable car is there to help you do so and the valley station lies just outside of Flüelen on the Flüelen – Altdorf main road. Views from Eggberge couldn’t be better, with Lake Uri presenting all colours of the rainbow. The Eggberge trail leads firstly downhill direction Fleschsee lake – and on arriving at the lake the tour continues on a pretty even keel until Rietlig, where you can shorten the route with a ride on the small Ratzi and Tristel cableway down to Spiringen. Hardened hikers are however likely to continue along the highland path as far as the Klausen Pass – and this particular hike is equally enjoyable done back to front as well.
The careful planning of a tour will ensure that you also derive the maximum pleasure and enjoyment from it. Please take the time to contact the local information centre and enquire about route and weather conditions before setting off. Your intended trail may be fully or partially closed, depending on the time of year and weather conditions.
