Description
Georgina Norberta Johanna Franziska Antonie Marie Raphaela von Wilczek was an exceptional woman. Born in 1921 in Graz, she married Franz Josef II in 1943 and so became Fürstin Gina von und zu Liechtenstein – Her Serene Highness Princess Gina of Liechtenstein.
After her death in 1989, a small monument was erected for her on the Fürstin Gina Path. From Malbun, Liechtenstein's only winter sports centre, the chair lift takes you up to Sareis mountain station. From there the Fürstin Gina Path follows the ridge along to Sareiserjoch, where it becomes more challenging. Now small paths snake their way between alpine flowers and rocky promontories to the Augstenberg with its mighty summit cross.
The climb over the ridge to the Pfälzerhütte is challenging, with the trail at times steep but secured with ropes in the exposed sections. Cyclists also enjoy the road returning from the hut, so bear in mind to observe trail courtesy. At Alp Gritsch the trail is picked up again, running between Swiss stone pines and Scots pines to Tälihöhi and from there over flower meadows back to Malbun.

I love Malbun, hoping, someday I will be there again.
