The panoramic trail starts on the Chäserrugg mountain, on the left next to the restaurant and terrace. You'll already be greeted by a stunning all-round view here, with the Flums mountains on one side and Mount Säntis on the other. Depending on the weather, the wind can be quite harsh so hikers may sink deeper into the snow at some windswept points; depending on the condition of the route, the round trip can take anything between 45 minutes and over an hour. Height differences on the uphill and downhill stretches total 150 meters. There is a short section with a steeper gradient between Chäserrugg and Rosenboden, but the path is wide enough and entirely safe. However, hikers should keep to the track because the rock wall plunges almost vertically downwards just a few meters to the side. Walenstadt is directly below, and Lake Walen soon comes into view. You are surrounded by untamed mountain landscapes – the stuff of dreams!
On return to the Chäserrugg mountain station, a sled can also be rented instead of taking the gondola down to the valley.
The careful planning of a tour will ensure that you also derive the maximum pleasure and enjoyment from it. Please take the time to contact the local information centre and enquire about route and weather conditions before setting off. Your intended trail may be fully or partially closed, depending on the time of year and weather conditions.
