Description
Switzerland’s most panoramic planet trail runs high above the Val d'Anniviers in the Valais. It is also accessible during the cold season as a cleared winter hiking trail. As you walk you will enjoy a fantastic summit panorama as well as superb views into the Val d'Anniviers and the Rhone Valley. At the same time, the trail gives you a sense of the vast dimensions of the solar system - with every step you take representing about one million astronomical kilometres. The trail starts at the top station of the funicular railway running from St-Luc to Tignousa. It then gently rises as it follows the slope to Alp Le Chiesso and then becomes a little steeper towards the Hôtel Weisshorn. This Belle Epoque building is only accessible on foot in winter. Continue your hike by returning to Le Chiesso before branching off into the forest. Moderately steep now, the trail runs down to St-Luc, where it ends at the funicular railway valley station.
