Description
The winter hike from the Lauchernalp mountain station up to the Stafel is an unfolding panorama all the way. You will pass two pretty little chapels en route – the one on the Stafel consecrated as recently as 2002. Ten interactive stations (in German only) familiarize hikers with the winter offerings in the Lötschen Valley. The themes range from “The wonder of snow” to “Avalanches – the white danger”, to “Where are the animals in winter?” The themes are experienced with the help of the interactive stations. For example, under the theme “The wonder of snow”, you can see snow crystals through a kaleidoscope. To experience the theme “You are what you eat”, you feel the fur of domestic animals (in “touch boxes”) and you can then match the fur with the appropriate animal - ideal for families with children! And if the mountain air has given you an appetite, there is the Berghaus restaurant near Stafel.
