Description
Admire Switzerland’s largest high and lowland moor landscapes in the Entlebuch UNESCO biosphere reserve. Even in the winter, a journey through this vast and virtually untouched countryside is an extraordinary experience. Especially impressive is the winter hiking trail that runs from Sörenberg to the Emmental valley. Take the cable car from Sörenberg/village centre to the starting point at Rossweid. After crossing the ski area you continue along a level route through forest and over snowy moorland and pastures to Salwideli. The trail now descends slightly as it goes through a broad valley basin. Rugged mountain ranges line the route, with the Schrattenfluh to your north and the Brienz Rothorn chain to your south and the Hohgant ahead of you. After a loop in the Schönisei area, the route leads directly to Kemmeriboden-Bad. The inn with the same name is known for its legendary meringue specialities. For the return trip all you have to do is catch the post bus that leaves from behind the hotel.
