Description

The Vue-des-Alpes indeed lives up to its name – this pass road affords magnificent views of the Alps. The panorama stretches from the central Swiss to the Vaud peaks. Depending on the weather, as you look down you will either see Lake Neuchâtel or the vast sea of fog that covers the plain. The pass can be reached by bus from La Chaux-de-Fonds. It is situated on a sweeping broad ridge which extends in a southwesterly direction to a prominent knoll, the Tête de Ran. At its foot, the restaurant of the same name is the panoramic destination of this winter walk. Along this short route, enjoy a leisurely stroll through a charming and powerful landscape; the groomed path ascends slightly through extensive snowbound Jura pastures. Characteristic features include the tall spruce trees that occur either singly or in small groups. Return from the Tête de Ran along the same route to the Vue-des-Alpes.
