La Chaux-des-Breuleux - Etang de la Gruère - Les Reussilles

La Chaux-des-Breuleux

Sparse, severe and yet defined by a very special beauty: These are the Freiberge mountains. This stretch alternates between flat land to gently rolling hills from La Chaux-de-Fonds in a northeasterly directrion.
High altitude moorlands and expansive fields on which gigantic fir trees reach toward the sky define this landscape. The Etang de la Gruère ist Switzerland¿s largest moor lake and is a protected nature preserve. The picturesque body of water can normally only be circled on foot by means of a wooden path. Information tablets inform the visitor of the fauna and flora of this unique area. In winter, when the lake is frozen, it turns into a natural skating rink - to the delight of skaters of all ages.
