Leap over the language divide in fur-lined boots

Château d'Oex

This winter hike takes you from Château d’Oex in French-speaking Switzerland up to Saanen in the Bernese Oberland. The route follows the river Saane and crosses two suspension bridges, one of which – the Pont Turrian just below Château d’Oex – is thought to be the oldest suspension bridge in the Suisse Romande. The mountains all around provide an impressive backdrop and the hike itself enables you to cross the language divide on foot! The only part of the tour that does not follow an official trail is the so-called “Röstigraben” – the invisible dividing line between French-speaking and German-speaking Switzerland.
