Description
The clocks in Braunwald tick a little differently – here, traffic noise and exhaust fumes are unknown. In their place, this car-free Glarus mountain village offers you its nostalgic charm and leisurely tranquility. All you will see on the streets are the pedestrians and the horse-drawn cabs. The silence of the winter hiking trails around the village is quite out of this world. The panorama trail is a veritable parade route. This scenic trail begins at the top station of the Grotzenbüel cable railway. With a gentle but continuous ascent it climbs towards the Chnügrat. Here you are treated to superb views into the Bächital valley and a magnificent panoramic view of the Glarus Alps. After that, the route turns into the valley and crosses the Seblen Ridge to Gumen. From the terrace of the mountain restaurant you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Tödi. In a gentle descent, the trail then returns to the starting point at Grotzenbüel via the Ortstockhaus. From there you return directly by cable railway or on foot via Schwettiberg to Braunwald.
