Even several centuries ago, there was a lot of traffic here between the forest cantons of Central Switzerland and the Bernese Oberland. The Frutt is a sea of flowers in summer and superb skiing and snowboarding country in winter. But this sunny plateau has plenty to offer fans of winter hiking and cross-country skiing as well. The loop up to Tannalp, for example, takes you through some magnificent snow-clad scenery and past two picturesque chapels between Melchsee-Frutt and Tannalp.
