Description
The Sparenmoos is an extensive moorland. It reveals its charm, even in winter when the bogs and fens lie beneath a thick blanket of snow. Groups of firs are loosely scattered across this wide panoramic plateau. The area is popular with cross-country skiers and winter hikers alike as they enjoy the peace and quiet far from the hustle and bustle. The starting point at Sparenmoos is reached by bus from Zweisimmen. The cleared trail starts at the Berghotel Sparenmoos and actually consists of two circular trails – the shorter loop ending at the Vordere Hüsliberg mountain hut, with the longer continuing from there on to Nüjeberg/Uf em Hubel. The scenery changes constantly as you continue along the way with superb alternating views of the Simmental and Saanenland. Return to Zweisimmen by bus or, snow conditions permitting, by toboggan (toboggans may be hired on the Sparenmoos).
