Description
Bellinzona – old town – Castelgrande – Castello di Montobello – Castello di Sasso Corbaro – Bellinzona
There are three castles - Castelgrande, Castello di Montebello and Castello di Sasso Corbaro, built by Lombardic rulers in the 13th century, appropriated by Swiss confederates in the 15th century and renovated with great expertise in the 20th century. The castles in particular make it worth your while to take a tour of the city - strolling through busy streets, vineyards and chestnut groves.
For families: Fortifications, historical museums
Various: Museums in Castello di Montebello and Sasso Corbaro are closed from December to February
